Delta Electronics India Partners with Ventus Energy to Power Tamil Nadu Operations with Wind Energy
Delta Electronics India has signed a 12-year power purchase agreement with Ventus Energy Consultancy to transition its Tamil Nadu operations to renewable wind energy, aiming to significantly reduce its carbon footprint. Under the agreement, Delta will procure 9.6 million units of wind-generated electricity annually, supporting its manufacturing facilities across the state.
This initiative is expected to cut Delta’s carbon emissions by approximately 6,979 metric tonnes each year, marking a substantial shift away from fossil fuel-based energy. The clean power will be sourced from wind farms located in the districts of Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, and Tiruppur, with electricity delivered through the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO).
Delta plans to replicate this renewable energy sourcing model at its other facilities across India. To support this transition, the company is deploying its own advanced automation and industrial IoT solutions to monitor and manage renewable energy consumption in real time.
Highlighting the significance of the move, Delta Electronics President Benjamin Lin stated, “Bringing clean energy into our manufacturing aligns our business growth with India’s sustainability goals. It also underscores our commitment to environmental responsibility.”
Managing Director Niranjan Nayak emphasized that the wind energy agreement is part of Delta’s broader sustainability roadmap, which includes alignment with global initiatives like RE100 and the Science Based Targets initiative. “These long-term PPAs are a strategic step toward meeting international climate benchmarks,” he noted.
Ventus Energy Consultancy Director P. Vijayabaskaran welcomed the partnership, citing the company’s 15+ years of experience managing renewable assets in Tamil Nadu. “As Delta scales up its renewable energy adoption, we will continue to support their strategic sourcing and compliance needs,” he said.
Since entering the Indian market in 2003, Delta Electronics India has become a leading player in power and energy management. The company operates across three key sectors: Power Electronics, Automation, and Infrastructure. Its portfolio includes Telecom Power Solutions, Renewable Energy Systems, Industrial Automation, Data Center and UPS Solutions, EV Charging Infrastructure, Energy Storage, and Rail Transportation Technologies, as well as thermal management solutions like DC fans and blowers.
Globally, Delta has established 35 certified green buildings and operates two energy-efficient data centers, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable innovation. The new partnership with Ventus Energy further solidifies its role in shaping India’s clean energy future.
